Alcohol Lamp / Spirit Burner

Traditional polyhedral alcohol lamp with 120ml glass tank, nickel-plated cap and fiber wick. Polyhedral features allows for multiple angles. Works by soaking ethyl alcohol up the wick and lighting with a match or lighter. Used to produce an open flame. Produces a cooler flame than a propane or butane burner.

Generally preferred over Bunsen burners for safety purposes as the flame produced is limited in height and size. Produced flame has a lower temperature than other burner types. Flame remains sufficient for performing standard molecular biology and sterilization procedures.
